Lori Bakker Bio (Age)
Lori Bakker (born August 30, 1957) is an American author, motivational speaker, and televangelist. She was born and raised in a middle-class family in Phoenix, Arizona. Her family had strong religious beliefs as she often attended church. It was with such high moral and religious standards that Lori was raised as a child.
However, when she became a teenager, she took a step back from her religious upbringing and immersed herself in things that her Christian faith warns against. Lori started doing drugs with partying and sex. At 17, she started a relationship with a man who later married her. Nevertheless, marriage was hell for her.
Meanwhile, hard drugs were her momentary escape from the grim realities of her abusive marriage. But as she resorted to drugs, she became increasingly drowned in problems that seemed endless. During her marriage, she became pregnant 5 times and on each of these 5 occasions, she interrupted her pregnancy to keep her wife who seemed not yet ready to raise her children. Her fifth abortion earned her a total hysterectomy, which prevented her from having children. To escape all this pain, she clung tightly to hard drugs.
Well, no matter how far she seemed to have wandered down the path her parents showed her when she was a young girl, God’s grace always found her. Lori Bakker ended her painful marriage in 1985. She then joined the First Phoenix Assembly of God where she began to associate with other Christian believers seeking peace and healing from the painful wounds that her poor life choices had cost him.
As she continued to attend church, her turning point came in 1989 when she made a life-changing decision. Lori accepted Jesus Christ as her lord and personal savior. She began a new and greater path of spiritual growth and enrolled in a Master’s Commission discipleship program. Lori graduated from the program in 1991 and went on to serve it for nearly 10 years. She volunteered in El Salvador and Mexico. Other areas she has worked in include Inner City Bus Ministry, Youth Ministry, Women’s Ministry called Fashion Share, Nursing Home Ministry and Prison Ministry.
